It’s been a while since my last cream tutorial and I’m so excited because this one came out amazing and I can’t wait to share it with you guys!

It’s super rich and perfect for the winter months when our hands get really dry. Plus the green tea lends great anti-oxidant and nourishing properties to the cream.
For this project you will need:

  • 3 1/2 Tbsp almond oil
  • 1 Tbsp beeswax
  • 1 Tbsp filtered or bottled water
  • 1 green tea bag
  • essential oil (optional)
  • heat proof jar or bowl
  • container or small jar
  • fine mesh strainer
  • cooking thermometer
  • hand held mixer
  • measuring spoons

1. In a heatproof jar add the oil and the contents of the tea bag.
2. Heat the oil on a tea light warmer or in a double boiler on the lowest setting for about an hour.
3. Strain the oil, add the beeswax, return to the heatproof jar or bowl and heat again until the wax melts.
4. Set aside to cool and once the oil reaches 100°F/40°C mix with the mixer until it reaches 93°F/34°C then slowly mix in the water. Mix until completely emulsified.
5. Add up to 15 drops of your favorite essential oil. Mix well.

Update:

After several years of lotion making, I now know that you should really use a preservative if you’re going to keep this out of the fridge for more than a week. Please do your research on natural preservatives or just make a small batch and use up in about a week while storing in the fridge.
