Like I mentioned last week I was looking for a way to bring back to life a pair of beloved pants that had been bleach stained. So after a lot of thought, I decided to paint the stained parts and this is how I did it!

You will need:

  • Stained garment
  • Fabric paint
  • Foam brush
  • Masking tape
  • Scrap paper or cardboard
  • Hair dryer (optional)

The pants were stained on the back pockets and the front left leg.

1 – Insert some paper inside the leg and the pockets although I didn’t really need it in the end since the fabric was quite thick. Skip this step at your own risk!

2 – Mask out your design with masking tape and using a foam brush, start painting.

I wanted the painted areas to be a similar color to the rest of the pants so I had to mix two colors together. I found doing it straight on the fabric wasted a lot less paint.

3 – Dry coats of paint with a hairdryer to speed things up. I ended up doing about 5-6 coats.

4 – Remove masking tape after the final coat is dry and you’re done!
