I dug into my collection of Japanese sewing magazines and chose this little number:
You’re probably wondering “hey, you can read Japanese?! Wow!” Well, no actually, I can’t. I just look at the pattern and draft it by following the dimensions. I’m an XL in all these magazines so I just follow the last number. Here’s the pattern page, it’ll probably clear things up a bit:
See how each dimension on every pattern piece has three numbers? Well, I just use the last one. I know it looks complicated but if you take your time it really isn’t. I chose to make things easier by skipping the lace on the bodice and had to add two more darts for the bust to sit right. This is the first time I actually finished a dress with a bit of tailoring. Granted, I did put the zipper in 4 times till I got it right and the skirt is kind of wonky but hey, I don’t really care.
Here it is!
I love this dress so much! Can’t wait to take it out for a spin!
Did you see the shirt I made for the boy in the same fabric? twinsies!!
p.s. the pattern is from Female spring 2013
See you soon!
