After seeing this on Pinterest and finding an online shop here in Athens that sells all the supplies needed to make them I dived right into it!
I searched my recycling bin for molds and used some milk cartons cut in half which worked really well, the small blue carton was a tea box which didn’t really work since the cardboard was too thin and leaked the wax when it melted. But, since I put everything in the oven at 100 degrees Celsius I got to it before it leaked all over the place!
It took FOREVER to melt in the oven…more than 30mins and I had to take them out and use the microwave for a few minutes just to get everything melted completely. After doing some research I found that some people say you shouldn’t melt beeswax in the microwave since it might ignite and some people only use the microwave to melt it. I don’t know, I think since my wax was almost melted it worked out fine. I think next time I make these I’ll use a milk carton to melt the wax and pour it into whatever container.
All in all these where really easy to make and they have this nice natural honey smell when they burn. It also seems that they burn a lot slower than regular paraffin candles, and they don’t burn out any weird gasses.
ready for the oven!
I also got to use some old glasses and a broken mug that were taking up space in my kitchen 🙂
I’d love to see your version if you make these!
